Last night I returned home, planning on watching Frontline's "The Vaccine War", which we already knew would be a hit piece on parents, as we saw the website that only offered the perspective of dismissive doctors, heard that they had cut famous UCLA pediatrician Jay Gordon out of the show (even though he was interviewed sitting next to Jenny McCarthy), and we had seen the preview which basically told vaccine resistant mothers they were bad citizens and condemning other children to death by vaccine preventable illness.

But I never got to watch the show.

Because as soon as I came in the door, the phone rang. It was a reporter from the Portland Press Harold who had interviewed me after Ashley's death looking for comment on a story. Another murder suicide of someone with autism by their parent. But this time it was just a few towns away from me.

GRAY - A father shot and killed his autistic son Tuesday at their home on Yarmouth Road before turning the rifle on himself, Maine State Police said.

Cumberland County sheriff's deputies found the bodies of Daniel McLatchie, 44, and his son, Benjamin McLatchie, 22, in the family's driveway at 227 Yarmouth Road around 2:30 p.m.

The driveway, which is several hundred feet long, slopes down from Yarmouth Road -- part of Route 115 -- before ending at a white, two-story, Cape-style home surrounded by woods.

State police Sgt. Chris Harriman said the sheriff's deputies responded to a 911 call. He did not say who made the call.

He said it appeared that Daniel McLatchie was upset about what would happen to his autistic son after he and his wife died. He was a stay-at-home father, Harriman said...

It was a punch in the gut.

I didn't know the family. It is tempting to speculate on what exactly was going on and what drove him to it, but that wouldn't be fair. It is fair to assume that he was despondent and lost all hope. It is horrible, tragic, evil, a total disaster... there aren't words strong enough for how bad it is that this happened, and keeps happening. I wish I could be more eloquent, but honestly I am at a loss. It is just grievous.

And this is the third premature death of someone with autism that we have heard about during autism month, following the drownings of two wandering children. (correction, this is the fifth premature death this month). But is PBS running documentaries on how many of our children are dying from seizures and from drowning or from being abused by caregivers or shot by police or even murdered by the people who might even love them most? Are there stories on how children with autism cannot get life insurance until they turn ten because the insurance companies know damn well how likely our kids are to die young and don't want to pay out that kind of cash? No. Frontline is worried that children might get chicken pox and measles again.

But of course Frontline thinks that science has spoken and vaccines are good and never bad, and that the vaccine/autism connection belief is the fault of the internet and thinks that vaccine preventable illness is the greater risk and that it is the duty of every parent to enlist their child in the war on it, sacrificing them as needed. And of course they do, because:

As was pointed out by an autism dad posting on The Age of Autism.

And another astute observation posted by another dad of a vaccine injured child points out that:

So yes... PBS is right about one thing. People believe that vaccines cause autism because they can go on to the internet, find that all of the supposedly objective research clearing vaccines of widespread damage is bought and paid for by people with very special interests, financial and otherwise, in seeing the vaccine program flourish. They can, like I did, go to the government's own research database and find that the vaccines their child got just before they regressed have never even been studied to see if they are associated with autism. No Hep B vax autism studies. No DTaP vax autism studies. No Pnumo vax autism studies. No Polio vax autism studies. No HIB vax autism studies. And no studies to see if giving a child Hep B, DTaP, Pnumo, Polio and HIB simultaneously will increase their chance of autism. Not even any studies comparing fully vaccinated children to unvaccinated children to see who has more autism.

And they can go the web site of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, look at the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program's table of recognized injuries and see that the vaccine induced "encephalopathy" that is caused by DTaP and MMR is just an alternate description of a child with autism:

(1) Decreased or absent response to environment (responds, if at all, only to loud voice or painful stimuli);
(2) Decreased or absent eye contact (does not fix gaze upon family members or other individuals); or
(3) Inconsistent or absent responses to external stimuli (does not recognize familiar people or things).

And they see the government pay Hannah Poling, and Baily Banks and Madison Hiatt for their vaccine induced autism, while claiming that they are not paying them for vaccine induced autism.

And they can watch Julie Gerberding claim that vaccines both do and do not cause autism, then leave her job as CDC chief to become the head of vaccines for Merck.

And they can see that "autism" can be so hard it can even lead a parent to spiral down so low that they would do the ultimate evil to a child they love. (And then condemn them self to the ultimate judgment).

And they see pleadings of the pharma paid media to vaccinate and their indifference to what happens after vaccination. And they can see that the main stream media is not even reporting the truly important and dramatic parts of this story.

For example, MSNBC is very concerned with the two children that have died following pertussis infection this year, but has not commented on the 11 who died following pertussis containing vaccines this year, and no big stories on how our children are dying early and demanding actual progress on autism be made.

Yep... it is clearly the internet's fault. Not the MSM for their embarrassingly transparent bias and constantly being caught withholding vital information, not CDC's for telling stupid lies about vaccine injury, not the AAP's for pushing inadequately tested vaccines in untested combinations on untested populations, Not public heath's for yawning at the autism epidemic while spending billions and screaming "EMERGENCY!" over a mild flu, not mainstream medicine's for not even researching regressive autism or GI problems or any of the treatments that make our childrens' lives better, not Pharm'a fault for constantly getting caught knowingly poisoning people while trying to cover their tracks and kneecap docs who point it out and not FDA's fault for approving vaccines when makers openly admit that they don't even know how some of them work.

It is the internet's fault for letting you find out about it all. BAD INTERNET! If only there was a way to prevent parents from discovering all the immoral, unethical and illegal activities of the MSM, HHS, CDC, FDA, Pharma, AAP and Public Health. Clearly we need to turn off the internet for the sake of the children.

And the shocking thing is that MSM and PBS and MSNBC and AAP and CDC and VCIP and Public Health and all the usual suspects who are bemoaning the falling vaccine uptake rate seem to see no correlation between it, and their own "parents are stupid and we don't give a shit about vaccine injury or the struggle of autism families or the suffering and dying children (and young adults) with autism enough to actually do anything that would actually put us out in any little way" attitude.

Let's see... I can swallow the clearly BS story that vaccines are in no way associated with autism and risk a vaccine injury where I will spend my life trying to keep my child alive, fight with the school system to get him educated, fight with doctors and insurance companies to meet his medical needs, not sleep for the next thirty years, become alienated from family and friends, cease participating in society, be told that I am a crazy person for thinking vaccines cause my child's autism, be called a baby killer for warning others about my child's vaccine injury, cry every day while wiping poop off of every surface of my home and possibly attend my child's funeral when he elopes and drowns in elementary school...

OR

I can feed my child lots of organic veggies and vitamin D, educate myself on how to spot disease early and treat it effectively in my child.

Clearly parents who choose the later are deluded and dangerous!

Risk of dying from polio at the height of the polio epidemic - 1 in 30,000.
Risk of having a child with autism today - at least 1 in 100, probably higher.

I am sad and disgusted and angry and horrified.

And I will ask the question again... the same one I have been asking for years...

What is your plan? CDC, AAP, MSM and the rest of "The Empire"... The more bullshit you pump out, the faster the trust levels of the public fall, the more people come to believe that vaccines cause autism and widespread damage. And vaccine rates continue to fall and vaccine preventable illness are coming back, but they are not causing the mass death that you try to keep scaring people into believing will happen if they don't adhere to the CDC recommendations, so you are looking a bit foolish there too. How long are you going to keep this facade up? Till autism is 1 in 20, hundreds of our kids are dying per year and half the population decides to quit vaccinating all together? Have you marked out the point at which you will abandon this garbage and issue a mia culpa?

HHS Sec Kathleen Sebelius, who openly admits that she asks the media for favorable coverage on the autism debate (did she ask PBS to make this propaganda piece?) has appointed new members to the IACC, the government group that coordinates research into the causes and treatments of autism. All of them are people who have a long history of not making any progress in making progress for our kids, drugging them, looking for genetic causes that never materialize; except for one, who believes that autism is a natural variation, and that causes and treatments should not be researched, nor 'cures' given... Appointed to THE government committee tasked with finding a cure for autism.

This is the biggest middle finger yet that the Obama administration has given to our community. This may be the biggest that any administration has given us.

Clearly we are on our own.

The unexplained death of an 8-year-old Kings Park boy at Stony Brook University Medical Center has sparked a state Department of Health probe, authorities said Wednesday.

The boy - identified as Sean Weisse by a family member - was taken off life support Sunday, three days after being hospitalized with symptoms of fever, nausea and a sore throat, said Claudia Hutton, a health department spokeswoman.

"There is no reason to believe the hospital did anything except provide the best medical care," Hutton said. "Any time a child dies unexpectedly, it is of great interest to us."

The probe is not aimed at Stony Brook's pediatric intensive care unit, the subject of state scrutiny for past quality of care issues, Hutton said. She said a hospital inspection team was investigating it as "an adverse event."

Stony Brook staffers have conducted blood and spinal fluid tests but have not determined the cause of death, Hutton said, adding that doctors believed the fatal illness was viral. More tests are scheduled on the spinal fluid taken at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown, where the boy was first taken after becoming ill, Hutton said.

There will be no autopsy at the family's request, Hutton said.

"Mysterious deaths do happen and there are times when you cannot get all the answers that you want," Hutton said. "I don't know how certain, in the end, a cause of death will be."

Sean, a third-grader at Park View Elementary School, is scheduled to be buried Thursday after a funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Kings Park. The boy's parents, Steven and Kelly Weisse, asked that donations be made to the Special Education Parent Teachers Association of the Kings Park Central School District. They declined interview requests.

Health authorities sought to assure the public that Sean did not die from a reaction to a flu vaccine shot last week, a claim posted this week on several Internet message boards and blogs.

Hutton said the boy was given a regular seasonal flu shot in a private physician's office, but results from blood and spinal fluid tests show that it is "extremely unlikely" that the vaccination caused his illness later.

"There is always a very remote chance, but it is so remote that it is almost a scientific certainty that it is not vaccine-related," Hutton said. "It is just a very sad family tragedy."

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said fatal reactions to flu shots are rare.

At a wake in Kings Park Wednesday night, friends and family remembered a smiling boy who loved skateboarding. His skateboard was placed near his coffin amid flowers and photographs.

"Every picture he has a big grin on," said Kerry Leo, a family friend from Kings Park.

Counselors were on hand this week at Park View Elementary to help students and faculty, said Susan Agruso, superintendent of the Kings Park Central School District. "This is a profoundly sad time for our community," she said. "Our sincerest sympathies go out to the student's parents, family and friends."

But since it is a rumor that I have now heard from multiple sources so I am putting it out there so that it gets some attention and is either corroborated or debunked.

8 year old child who just recieved the H1N1 vaccine at STONYBROOK Hospital in New York dies after recieving vaccine. The child who was a 3rd grader at Park View school in Kings Park New York( My sister's sons classmate ) with no undelying conditions, perfect health. I wonder if it will even make the news. Please spread the word you or your children are not Guinea Pigs. Tell everyone before it is too late.

I also got word of private discussion to the same effect by someone else in this community.

I have checked and found no mention of this in the media.

This has begun circulating on Face Book. Before this becomes internet gospel, hyper hysteria, or becomes buried, (or crushes some poor family that has lost a child do to something else) this needs to be vetted and public health officials need to be contacted on this.

Of course today is a holiday.

To clear up some of the misinformation that has been posted on here please know that he received the seasonal flu vaccine not H1N1, and he died from GBS - Guillain-Barre Syndrome- a paralyzing syndrome that can be triggered by a vaccination.

This has been a devastating and horrendous tragedy for this wonderful loving family. All of us who know them are praying for them.

So it is likely that a child has died following the flu shot, either seasonal or H1N1, as people are piping up with confirmable details. But the details of the stories don't match.

14 Year Old Dies From HPV Vaccine Given at School

Schoolgirl dies after cancer jab

A 14-year-old girl has died after being given a cervical cancer jab as part of a national immunisation programme, but the exact cause of death is unknown.

The pupil took ill at Blue Coat CofE School in Coventry shortly after she received the Cervarix vaccine. She died in the town's University Hospital.

The batch of the vaccine used has been quarantined by the local NHS.

The injection offers protection against a sexually transmitted disease, which is linked to most cervical cancers.

A routine programme of vaccinating 12- and 13-year-old girls started in September 2008 across the UK using the Cervarix vaccine made by GlaxoSmithKline. A catch-up campaign is now under way for older girls.

The injection offers protection against the human papilloma virus (HPV), the most common cause of cervical cancer.

'Urgent investigation'

The girl, who has not yet been named, died at lunchtime on Monday.

Dr Caron Grainger, joint director of public health for NHS Coventry and Coventry City Council, said their sympathies are with the girl's family and friends.

She said: "The incident happened shortly after the girl had received her HPV vaccine in the school. No link can be made between the death and the vaccine until all the facts are known and a post-mortem takes place.

"We are conducting an urgent and full investigation into the events surrounding this tragedy."

A small number of girls at the school had also reported mild symptoms such as dizziness and nausea but they were not admitted to hospital.

In a statement posted on the school's website, headteacher Dr Julie Roberts said during the immunisation, "one of the girls suffered a rare, but extreme reaction to the vaccine".

"A number of other girls also reported being unwell and some were sent home," she said.

"If your daughter has received a vaccine today we ask that you are extra vigilant regarding any signs or symptoms."

She listed possible reactions as mild to moderate short-lasting pain at the injection site, headache, muscle pain, fatigue and a low-grade fever.

'Tragic death'

It is thought about a million girls have already safely received the vaccine.

When the national immunisation project was announced, there was some controversy about the selection of Cervarix over Gardasil, which is used by the majority of vaccination programmes worldwide.

Q&A: The cervical cancer vaccine

Dr Pim Kon, medical director at GlaxoSmithKline UK, which makes Cervarix, said: "Our deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of the young girl.

"We are working with the Department of Health and MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) to better understand this case, as at this stage the exact cause of this tragic death is unknown."

The global pharmaceutical company added that the vast majority of suspected adverse reactions have related either to the symptoms of recognised side effects or were due to the injection process and not the vaccine itself.

Public health minister Gillian Merron said: "Our deepest sympathies are with the family. It is important we have the results of further investigations as soon as possible to establish the cause of this sad event."

In the UK, about 3,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer every year and about 1,000 die from it.

The department said Cervarix had a strong safety record.

Shadow Health Secretary Andrew Lansley said the tragedy needed to be investigated "as a matter of urgency".

He said: "This again raises the question which we have asked for some time, as to why the government won't publish the assessments it made of the relative merits of the two HPV vaccines and why we therefore use a different vaccine to most other comparable countries."

There are more than 100 types of HPV but only 13 of them are known to cause cancer.

Cervarix protects against two strains of HPV that cause more than 70% of cases of cervical cancer in women.

Vaccination is not compulsory and consent is required before it is administered to the under-16s.

I am so angry. This does not have to happen.

If they try to say "no association" there should be rioting in the streets.

Vaccine Strain Polio Death in Minnesota

The live virus Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV), which is no longer used in the US but is used in places like India and Nigeria, can lead to actual polio infections both in those who get the vaccine and in others who can catch the disease from those who are "shedding" the virus after the vaccine.

This is a case where someone came into contact with someone shedding polio after OPV.

I don't know why the OPV vaccine is still used at all. It is my understanding that part of the reason polio is still active in India and Nigeria is because they use the OPV.

Patient who died had weakened immune system, multiple other health conditions

State health officials are investigating a case of infection associated with the polio virus in a Minnesotan who died last month.

The patient was infected with a virus strain found in the oral polio vaccine. The oral vaccine, which is no longer used in the U.S., contained live polio virus. The injected polio vaccine now in use contains only inactivated virus.

The patient died with symptoms that included paralytic polio, but it is not known to what extent the polio may have contributed to the death. The patient had a weakened immune system and multiple health problems. The patient most likely acquired the vaccine-derived polio virus from someone who had received the live-virus, oral poliovirus vaccine (OPV) before the use of OPV was discontinued nine years ago.

Infection from polio virus can cause a wide range of symptoms. Most infections result in no or mild symptoms, but in rare cases can severely affect the neurologic system, resulting in paralysis.

Minnesota Department of Health officials are emphasizing that there is no risk to the general public from this case. Only people who have had direct, close contact with the patient, such as certain health care workers, may be at risk of infection. Adhering to recommended infection control guidelines and being vaccinated protect against polio. At this time, no additional cases of infection with the polio virus have been reported in connection with the patient.

"We are working closely with our local and national partners to investigate this case," said Minnesota State Epidemiologist Dr. Ruth Lynfield. "It's important to note that while there is no risk to the general public, many people still have vivid memories of a time when polio was a major public health concern before the first vaccines were introduced in the 1950s. This is a very rare occurrence and does not signal a resurgence of polio."

MDH staff are working with hospital staff to determine if there might be health care workers at risk for disease. Hospital staff are notifying all health care workers who may have been exposed. "Only unvaccinated people or people with deficient immune systems who have had direct, ungloved contact with the patient's bodily secretions are at any risk for disease," said Dr. Aaron DeVries, Medical Epidemiologist at MDH. Health officials will follow up with health care workers to make sure their immunizations are up to date and they are showing no signs of disease. "If you don't hear from a public health or health care official, you're not at risk," DeVries said.

This type of polio infection is very rare, officials stressed. In rare instances, a person who has either never been vaccinated or has certain immunodeficiencies can acquire the polio virus from someone who has been vaccinated and is excreting the virus in their stool. Sometimes these infections result in illness, as happened in this situation. Only 45 cases of vaccine-derived polio disease in persons with immunodeficiencies have been reported in the world since 1961.

This is the second instance of a polio infection caused by a vaccine strain of virus in the United States since 2000, when use of live-virus oral polio vaccine was discontinued in the U.S. All polio vaccinations in the U.S. are now done with an injected, killed-virus vaccine. The other instance of vaccine-derived polio infection also occurred in Minnesota, in 2005, but was very different from this case. It occurred in an unimmunized child from a community that had high levels of non-immunization and that case was not associated with neurological symptoms.

"We suspect that one reason why Minnesota has detected both cases in the United States in the last 10 years is because of the high level of cooperation among astute clinicians, a network of clinical laboratories and the Minnesota Department of Health, which in turn has a Public Health Laboratory that looks for such rare agents as polio virus," Lynfield said.

Naturally-occurring polio has been eradicated in the western hemisphere. The last case of naturally-occurring (not from vaccine) paralytic polio disease occurred in the United States in 1979.

Although members of the general public are not at risk, MDH officials say this unusual case should serve as a reminder to make sure that all of your immunizations are current and that children receive immunizations as recommended.

"It's always a good idea to check with your physicians or health care providers to be certain all of your vaccinations are current," DeVries said. "Make sure you're protected and your children are protected."

Most people in the United States have been vaccinated against polio and healthy people have developed full immunity to the disease. An estimated 94 percent of Minnesota's two-year-olds have had the full primary series of three polio shots, which are usually administered in infancy.

Gardasil Takes Jenny Tetlock's Life

Many of us have been following Jenny Tetlock's case after she began getting sick following Gardasil more than a year ago.

To my knowledge, no one from the CDC or any other medical authority even checked into her case despite her family's very public appeals and widespread search for answers.

Jenny died yesterday.

Our sincerely condolences to her family. Honestly I am heartbroken for you.

"Buenos Aires, Jul 10, 2008 (EFE via COMTEX) -- At least 12 babies who were part of a clinical study to test the effectiveness of a vaccine against pneumonia have died over the past year in Argentina, the local press reported Thursday.

The study was sponsored by global drug giant GlaxoSmithKline and uses children from poor families, who are "pressured and forced into signing consent forms," the Argentine Federation of Health Professionals, or Fesprosa, said.
"This occurs without any type of state control" and "does not comply with minimum ethical requirements," Fesprosa said.

The vaccine trial is still ongoing despite the denunciations, and those in charge of the study were cited by the Critica newspaper as saying that the procedures are being carried out in a lawful manner."...

In the last few months there have been a LOT of reports of vaccine related deaths and one death of an autistic child at school by suffocation.

I have been avoiding posting these stories because, as I have mentioned before, writing about stores like these is difficult for me. I spend ten minutes writing about it and two hours recovering from it.

This has only been made worse by our personal experience in the last several weeks.

But I need to start reporting this stuff. Heaven knows NBC News isn't gonna do it.

Many world-class MDs have been consulted and many treatments tried

Immunoglobulin, prednisone (oral and pulse), plasma pheresis, and Cytoxan, have been tried based on the assumption of an autoimmune process, with no apparent effect.

A mitochondrial cocktail has been tried based on the assumption of a mitochondrial disorder.

Lithium and Rilutek have been tried based on the assumption of a neurodegenerative disease.

Jenny may have had certain pre-existing autoimmune and/or genetic vulnerabilities that rendered her susceptible to a catastrophic reaction to the HPV vaccine. These include an autoimmune skin disease (pityriasis lichenoides), a maternal grandmother who died of progressive supranuclear policy, and a maternal cousin with severe autism/seizures. Jenny also has only a single copy of the SMN-2 gene (but otherwise does not satisfy the preconditions for SMA).
